Additionally, she has been retained in cases involving issues relating to older adults including medical malpractice, caregiver burnout and elder abuse (financial abuse, physical and verbal abuse, undue influence and quality of care). Dr. Mourra is able to assess the contributions of psychiatric comorbidities to forensics cases including mood and psychotic disorders, cognitive impairment and dementia, medications and medical conditions, and complex social factors that affect older adults. Additionally, older adults may often have one or more physical health conditions that influence their mental health in a dynamic way. My training in geriatric psychiatry allows me to address multiple issues that are unique to older adults including complex psychopharmacology and medication interactions, assessing confusion and memory, behavioral issues in dementia, home safety evaluations, bereavement and loss, late life depression and anxiety, caregiver burnout, and individuals aging with serious mental health conditions such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. I am able to do home visits on a case by case basis, depending on the needs of the patient.
